I do not particularly enjoy doing negative reviews such as I did on the Dr. Praeger’s California veggie burger over the weekend since I realize that some people will still enjoy foods that I dislike. Conversely, not everyone is going to enjoy the same foods I do either. I am not tied in any form or fashion to any of these companies, therefore I am going to report exactly what I think of a product whether good or bad.
The folks at Carla Lee hit a home run with their original NutBurgers. I love them!
From Carla Lee:
These gourmet NutBurgers™ are deliciously “craveable” and NUTritious! Made with all organic ingredients, each bite is packed with: cashews, sunflower seeds, brown rice, expeller cold-pressed carrot juice, coconut amino acids, and a perfect super-special blend of organic non-irradiated spices that are mild, fresh and will make your taste buds smile!
I am not Vegan, nor vegetarian. I love my meats and fish. I do however, enjoy some of the vegetarian burgers available on the market for something different from time to time that is also a healthy choice. I will be buying more of these NutBurgers in the future and look forward to trying more of their products.
Per the cooking instructions, I browned the pattie over medium heat in a cast iron skillet and a little olive oil. (they only specify a healthy oil)
And then served it up plain on an Ole Extreme Wellness, High Fiber, Low Carb tortilla.
I liked that these nut burger patties are a little larger than the last two veggie burgers I have reviewed. Where it took two of the Qrunch burgers to satisfy, the Carla Lee Nut Burger satisfied with only one.
I had no preconceived notions if I would like these, but was hoping they would not be as disappointing as the Dr. Praeger veggie burgers. I was pleasantly surprised when I bit into my first bite, the pattie had a nice crunch to it and the texture inside was a mixture of softness and whole chunks of nuts and seeds. While I assumed they would have a more nutty taste to them, I thought the taste was very reminiscent of Morningstar brands Spicy Black Bean veggie burgers which I truly enjoy. Carla Lee’s website does not list all of their proprietary spices used in these patties, but I believe they have a perfect blend. A blend that compliments the other ingredients without anyone overpowering another.
ORGANIC INGREDIENTS
Organic brown rice, organic carrot juice, organic sunflower seeds, organic cashews, coconut aminos, (organic coconut sap and sea salt {less than 1%}), organic expeller-pressed sunflower oil, organic spices, sea salt.
Even our “organic” and “natural” meat alternatives and thousands of other “frankenfoods” on the shelves are loaded with “isolated,” “hydrolyzed” and separated proteins and harmful highly addictive neurotoxins known as “excitotoxins” hiding under deceptive labeling which act as auto-immune disruptors in our bodies and are known to cause disease. It’s simple. Our body’s perfectly designed bio-systems thrive when we feed them real whole foods that come from nature.
Carla Lee’s NutBurgers are nutritionally sound and a good source of protein, fiber, vitamins and minerals. If you have an allergy to nuts, you will want to avoid them. However, if you do not have any type of nut allergies, I highly encourage you to give these a try!
