My basic assumption, since you are reading this, would be that you want to lose weight.
I would also surmise that you might be wondering if you can even survive your diet or not if you have not enjoyed success in the past.
Ninety five percent of all dieters will fail and it almost goes without saying that you have family and friends who do not believe that you will succeed either. It is a cold hard reality of life that even our loved ones will be doubting Thomas’s when it comes to your dieting. If you have never had success with weight loss in the past, you probably have doubts as well – but alas, you are going to give it another college try…
Stop with the diet mindset!
If you are going onto a diet in order to lose weight, just stop everything you are doing, you have already failed yourself. You might lose some weight with this new diet plan you have discovered, but the real battle is in losing weight in a healthy, sustained manner, and that you do not drop too many pounds too fast as most are wont to do.
Just stop with the diet mindset for once and all!!!
If you want to lose weight in a healthy manner – and then keep it off for the rest of your life – you must make a permanent change to your nutritional lifestyle. There is no new diet scheme, pill, or exercise that is going to get you to the figure you want without a change of lifestyle. And it matters none at all how much money you have paid for the newest in weight loss Tomfoolery. If you are overweight today, odds are stacked greatly against you that you are going to appear any differently this time next year if you do not change your life.
Have I emphasized CHANGE YOUR LIFESTYLE enough yet?
Managing your weight is a life-long commitment – not just following a diet for a few weeks to drop pounds. Popular media is full of fad diets and magic weight loss potions endorsed by celebrities and supported by personal success stories. But they are all full of hot air, these folks are almost always paid for their endorsements. It’s hard to go a day without seeing or hearing about “the answer to” or a “miracle” weight-loss solution. This is simply because losing weight has become a multi-billion-dollar industry that thrives on your hard earned cash.
You can survive your diet and fail at it at the same time!
Unless you are actually starving yourself, you can survive your diet, but so what? Diet plans do not work because they usually limit your nutritional intake, can be unhealthy, and tend to fail in the long run. The key to achieving and maintaining a healthy weight isn’t about short‐term dietary changes. It’s about a lifestyle that includes healthy eating, regular physical activity, and balancing the number of calories you consume with the number of calories your body uses.
The key is to think in terms of long-term lifestyle changes that you will follow for the rest of your life. It is imperative that you never lose sight that weight management is a lifelong journey. No matter where you are in life, you will have to work hard and stay mindful of what you eat in order to manage your weight. A short-term diet will not do this for you. If they did work, there would not be a ninety five percent failure rate for dieters, would there?
You don’t have to survive your diet!
When you focus on long-term lifestyle changes such as we promote at David’s Way to Health and Fitness, you will note a few things. First, you are being kinder to your body. You are less likely to experience extreme hunger, food deprivation, weakness, exhaustion and mental stress. Simple lifestyle changes teach you listen to what your body is telling you. You will also notice that even though weight-loss may be slower, it is more permanent so long as you do not return to your old ways of eating
If you are on the journey to lose, and manage your weight, always keep your focus on the long road ahead. It may be tempting to lose a lot of weight in a short amount of time, but this is bad for your body and will likely result in weight regain. Instead, aim for lifestyle changes that are focused on overall health and wellness. You will not regret it!
Never worry about surviving your diet ever again.
