At David’s Way, we believe in weight loss made easy. There really is no reason to complicate it, yet people will.
My friends, weight loss is really not a difficult concept to grasp – in fact the concepts are actually too simple. Yet, almost every dieter I have ever encountered made weight loss into a complicated process of special diets and exercises to spot tone their arms and bellies.
It doesn’t work that way!
If you are serious about permanent weight loss, just get over thinking that you need to do anything special, and just get back to the basics of nutrition. Only eat foods that actually provide nutritional value to your body, and quit eating junk.
If you think that you can keep eating your sugar filled and processed foods – you are doomed to failure.
When you approach a diet with the mindset that you just want to get it over with in order to go back to your former habits – you are doomed to failure.
No matter how many people have told you that the newest fad diet will be the one which gets you to your goals – you are doomed to failure.
If you are serious about losing body fat, and keeping it off, you do not have to do anything special at all. All that is required is that you eat healthy foods, move your body, and track how much you eat. Just quit with the junk foods and sugary drinks. You really do not need to, nor should you be consuming a cup or two of sugar every day. And that is exactly what you are doing when you eat junk and drink carbohydrate laden junk every day.
Needless to say, but you are truly what you eat.
If you are tired of looking like a busted can of biscuits, you have to quit living on biscuits and gravy. When you are living on junk foods, you will look and feel like you live on junk foods.
A permanent change of your lifestyle will be required in order for you to have permanent success. When you lose weight, and then go back to your old eating habits, it is only natural that you will once again obtain your old body. This is not rocket science my friends. You have to be willing to commit for the rest of your life. And the beauty of that commitment is that when life throws you a curve ball, you already have a healthy lifestyle to fall back on.
Successful weight loss really is that simple of a concept.
Quit eating too many calories for your daily needs.
Only eat healthy, whole foods.
Quit eating junk foods, and devote that time you would have spent in a fast food drive through on cooking your meals at home instead.
Start trying new fruits and vegetables that not only fill you up, but provide you with many nutrients and fiber to help keep inflammation down in your body.
Eat foods that are good sources of quality protein. Protein is not only filling, it is exactly what your body requires for keeping you from losing your lean muscle mass as you shed those unwanted pounds.
Ensure that you get as much quality sleep as you can. When you aren’t sleeping, your body will cook up a perfect recipe for weight gain. When you’re short on sleep, it’s easy to lean on a large latte to get moving. You might be tempted to skip exercise (too tired), get takeout for dinner, and then turn in late because you’re uncomfortably full. It is a scientific fact that when you are over tired, your brain’s reward center revs up, and begins looking for something to eat or drink that makes you feel good. So while you might be able to squash comfort food cravings when you’re well-rested, your sleep-deprived brain may have trouble saying no to a second slice of cake.
Eat regular, wholesome meals that keep you satiated and less likely to snack.
As you can see, there really is nothing about weight loss that can’t be made easy. Get back to the basics of nutrition that you should have learned early on in school, and keep it all simple.
You are so right, David. It’s really not that complicated – eat right and exercise is the whole secret.
Yet so many struggle.
I know, and it has always baffled me.
