The Sick Aging Phenotype; Dr. Jonathon Sullivan M.D.

I recently received a book entitled The Barbell Prescription, Strength Training for Life After Forty. This book is authored by Dr. Jonathon Sullivan and Andy Baker, both of which I have followed for a number of years on the Starting Strength website owned by strength coach Mark Rippetoe.

Now you might be thinking that you have no interest in barbell training, and that is okay. This video does not address that. What I do address is the “sick aging phenotype” as Dr. Sullivan refers to the type of people who have consumed poor diets most of their lives and are not physically active. Again this has nothing to do with barbell training, what I discuss is the health ramifications that are plaguing our society as a result of poor nutritional habits and lack of exercise.

As I state in my closing words, we all know the cost of health care keeps skyrocketing ever higher. While we have no control over the cost of health insurance, we do not have to participate in the other out of pocket expenses. In other words, if you take care of your body, you have far less to worry about when it comes to the cost of healthcare.
